Ford Sells Vacant Plant to Distribution Firm

Associated Press

An auto transmission plant in Fairfax, Ohio, that was closed in 1979 has been sold by Ford Motor Co. to a privately held company, the auto maker said.

Red Bank Distribution of Cincinnati will remodel the plant’s main 580,000-square-foot building to prepare for warehousing, distribution and light manufacturing operations, Ford Motor Land Development Corp. said in a statement Tuesday.

No price was disclosed.

Ford Motor Land is the auto maker’s real estate arm.

The plant, on a 51-acre site in suburban Cincinnati, opened in 1951 and produced transmissions for large cars until slumping sales forced its closure in 1979.
