I would like to congratulate Rone Tempest for the excellent article on India (Dec. 26), “India Unbowed Despite Constant Strife.” Accustomed to reading only the sensational and the “human interest” stories from India, I was pleasantly surprised by the sane perspective offered in it. It reaffirmed my faith in my great country.
With all other newsworthy stories vying for space, the editorial decision to put this quietly significant story on the front page is rare indeed.
