Cold Roars Into Plains, Rockies

A “Yukon Express” roared into the north-central part of the country today, dropping wind chills to 50 below zero in the northern Plains and dumping more than a foot of snow in the central Rockies, forcing schools in Colorado to cancel classes.
The wintry blast, labled a Yukon Express because of the jet stream pattern out of Canada, pushed temperatures below zero from Montana to Minnesota and into the teens and single digits from the northern half of the Rockies across much of the northern Plains and upper Mississippi Valley.
