GE’s Income Is Up 14 % in Quarter, 9% for the Year

General Electric Co., citing the acquisition of RCA Corp. and Kidder, Peabody & Co. as positive factors in its 1986 performance, reported that its earnings were up 14% in the fourth quarter and 9% for the full year.
Fairfield, Conn.-based GE reported net earnings for the final quarter of the year were $730 million, compared to $638 million in the last three months of 1985.
Net earnings for 1986 were about $2.5 billion, up from $2.3 billion in 1985. Revenue for the fourth quarter totaled about $12.3 billion, up from $8.7 billion in the same period in 1985. Revenue for the year totaled $35.2 billion, up from $28.3 billion in 1985.
