Shiver Once More--Another Frigid Night’s in Store

Icy blasts of air sent the temperature plunging into the 30s in the Los Angeles area overnight, and forecasters predict another cold, blustery night tonight.

The coldest spot in the Los Angeles basin was Ontario, where the mercury dipped to 26 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The San Fernando Valley registered some of the area’s lowest temperatures, with 36 in Van Nuys and 39 in Burbank. North of there, in the Antelope Valley, Lancaster was a chilly 15 degrees.

In downtown Los Angeles, where the homeless huddled around barrel fires or slept in makeshift cardboard shelters on the sidewalks, the temperature fell to 42 degrees during the night.
