Egypt Will Resist Arab Group Ouster

CAIRO — Egypt will resist a Syrian plan to seek its expulsion from the Organization of the Islamic Conference at this month’s summit meeting in Kuwait, the semiofficial newspaper Al Ahram reported Thursday.
The newspaper, which reflects government views, said it has learned that Syria officially requested summit discussion of the validity of Egypt’s 1984 readmission to the conference.
Egypt was readmitted to the organization after a five-year suspension because of its 1979 peace treaty with Israel.
