STOCKHOLM — A Swedish court has jailed a 52-year-old man for six months after convicting him for his 58th drunk-driving offense.
Court officials in Alingsas, central Sweden, said the man, who has already served a total of 4 1/2 years in prison for driving with excess alcohol, was convicted for having more than twice the permitted amount of alcohol in his blood.
The man, who was not identified, told the court Wednesday that he hopes to get professional help to stop his drinking, which first landed him in trouble in 1957.
