The Drug Fight and Education

I was very pleased to read the excellent article by Bill Billiter (Jan. 19) on the anti-drug efforts by so many people. In particular, it was wonderful to see the photo by Debora Robinson used to illustrate this piece. This was a reminder that something positive occurred that dealt with a negative problem. There was an opportunity for drug education using student artwork for a specific message.
Along with all of the agencies, teachers and parents, the Orange County Substance Abuse Prevention sponsored a very time-consuming competition, and made it happen with many volunteer hours donated to this project.
The best part was in seeing how willing people were to be of assistance in any way they could and that they care a lot about this issue in particular.
