Gooden Arrest Officer Yelled ‘Break His Arm,’ Files Show

Prosecutor’s files show that a police officer involved in the scuffle with New York Mets pitcher Dwight Gooden yelled, “Break his arm,” during the Dec. 13 incident.

Gooden pleaded no contest Friday in Tampa, Fla., to felony charges of resisting arrest with violence and battery of a police officer. He was sentenced to three years’ probation, reduced to two years if he maintains a clean record and performs 80 hours of public service in a police-related field each year.

The file, which was released since there will not be a trial, also indicates the arresting officer did not recognize Gooden and that officers laughed at Gooden when he was lying battered and handcuffed on the ground.
