Stockard Channing is the central figure in “The Room Upstairs,” a new “Hallmark Hall of Fame” presentation coming along Saturday on CBS (9-11 p.m., Channels 2 and 8).
Channing plays a young woman who teaches hard-to-reach children. She also has turned her old family home into a boardinghouse. Between the two environments, she mingles with a mixture of people, finding herself becoming involved when she’d rather keep a safe distance.
Her co-stars are Sam Waterston (shown with her in small photo), who is one of her boarders, and Linda Hunt (in large photo), the director of the school-clinic where she works.
“The Room Upstairs,” a Marian Reese Associates production in association with the Alexander Group Productions, was filmed in Boston and Vancouver. Stuart Margolin directed.
