A Navy man died early Wednesday after he was hit by a car, San Diego police said.
Thomas M. Murphy, 30, died of massive head injuries at UC San Diego Medical Center at 12:24 a.m., Deputy Coroner David Lodge said.
Murphy apparently ran into the path of a car about 11:50 p.m. on 1st Avenue near Cedar Street. The driver of the vehicle was not cited, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Robinson said Murphy was stationed at San Diego Naval Station. He was alone at the time of the accident.
