The name of San Fernando Superior Court Judge Ronald Sing Wai Lew is expected be submitted to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee today as President Reagan’s nominee for a federal judgeship in Los Angeles, said an aide to U.S. Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.). Although the aide said that Reagan had telephoned Lew to give him the news, the judge said he had not yet heard from the President. “Maybe he called the wrong number,” he suggested. Nevertheless, Lew added, “I know it’s happening and I am very excited.” He is the first Chinese-American selected for the federal bench in Los Angeles.
