Cypress 71, Pacifica 61--Center Frantz Reyes established a school record with 37 points to lead the Centurions. Cypress improved to 6-7 while Pacifica fell to 3-10.
Esperanza 78, El Dorado 71--Ross Harvey scored 20 points and teammate Jason Moler added 16 points as the Aztecs improved to 5-8 in league.
Katella 51, Loara 26--Richard Lucas scored 14 points to lead the Knights (13-0, 22-2) over the Saxons (1-12, 3-16) at Katella. Katella plays host to Los Alamitos Friday night to determine the league champion.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Trabuco Hills 59, Laguna Beach 51--The Mustangs made 12 of 19 shots from the field in the first half on their way to a 29-18 lead and the victory at Trabuco Hills. The Mustangs are 17-2, 18-4. The Artists are 3-6, 7-15.
Woodbridge 81, Orange 62--Adam Keith scored 23 points and David Townsend added 16 to lead the Warriors at Orange. Woodbridge is 9-0 in league. Orange (2-7) was led by Ben Adams (20 points) and Bob Mantor (13).
Laguna Hills 89, Costa Mesa 60--Chris Sheff had 25 points and 7 assists, and Mike Smedes had 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Hawks at Costa Mesa. Laguna Hills (6-3, 12-11) clinched at least third place and its first playoff berth since 1982.
In the South Coast League:
Mission Viejo 66, Irvine 46--Senior forward Jeff Herdman scored 25 points and Todd Matthews added 15 to lead the Diablos (16-10) at Irvine.
The victory moved Mission Viejo into a third-place tie with Irvine. Both teams are 5-4, but the Diablos can wrap up a playoff berth with a victory Friday against Capistrano Valley.
Irvine (13-12 overall) could have locked up its first trip to the Southern Section playoffs with a victory. Instead, the Vaqueros must defeat El Toro Friday and hope that Capistrano Valley defeats Mission Viejo.
El Toro 75, Dana Hills 57--The Chargers outscored Dana Hills, 15-4, in the second quarter giving them a 29-18 halftime at El Toro. Cory Wayland led Edison with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Brett Johnson helped El Toro with 10 assists. Khari Johnson and Eric Speaker each scored 14 points. Dave Cmelak and Tim McSweeny led the Dolphins (3-6) with 15 points each. El Toro improves to 7-2 and 17-8.
Capistrano Valley 83, San Clemente 61--Scott McCullough scored 18 points and Jim Waikle added 16 points as the Cougars (7-2) kept pace with El Toro for first place in the league. Rob Buhler led San Clemente (0-9) with 21 points.
