High School Basketball Playoffs

Elsewhere in the boys’ 2-A playoffs:
La Jolla 58, Southwest 57--Sean Rogers scored 17 points and Charles Huff came off the bench to add 13 to lead La Jolla (14-8) past Southwest in a first-round playoff game at La Jolla. The Vikings will meet top-seeded El Camino in the second round Saturday. Huff, a 5-foot 7-inch guard playing in place of the injured Jerome Sherman, added seven rebounds. Southwest, which trailed, 13-0, in the first quarter, rallied behind Johnny Walker, who finished with 27 points. The Raiders finished 6-17.
In the boys’ 3-A playoffs:
San Dieguito 56, Patrick Henry 50--Chris Bahr had 24 points and 7 rebounds to lead San Dieguito (16-8) past Patrick Henry (11-12) at San Dieguito. The Mustangs hit 20 of 24 free throws, including all five of their attempts in the fourth quarter, to move into Saturday’s second round against top-seeded Morse. Jack Minger added 18 points for San Dieguito. Charles Russell led Patrick Henry with 18.
Madison 82, Hilltop 58--Robbie Robinson scored 26 points and teammate Jeff Harper added 24 as Madison (18-7) beat Hilltop (11-12) at Madison. The Warhawks, who led, 15-14, after the first quarter, outscored Hilltop, 27-16, in the second period and were never challenged. Bryan Brooker had 26 points for Hilltop. Madison will play at Monte Vista Saturday.
In the girls’ playoffs:
Briefly--(2-A) Crawford 69, Coronado 30; San Marcos 51, Mission Bay 37. (3-A) Helix 67, Chula Vista 45; Mount Carmel 67, Mount Miguel 51.
