Dowell Gets 23 to Lead Long Beach Over Irvine

Cheryl Dowell scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Cal State Long Beach women to an 87-54 win in a PCAA basketball game Thursday night at Long Beach.
Penny Toler scored 19 points and Cindy Brown had 16 rebounds for the fifth-ranked 49ers, who improved their record to 26-2 overall and 16-1 in the PCAA.
Zalina Walton led UC Irvine (13-14, 9-8) with 14 points.
