College Baseball : Natal’s Grand Slam Paces UCSD Win

Bob Natal hit a grand slam and drove in five runs and David Stanovich had three hits Thursday afternoon to lead UC San Diego to a 14-1 victory over Whittier College at Whittier.
The game was shortened to six innings because of rain. UCSD is 3-0 against NCAA Division III competition and 7-6 overall. Whittier is 3-16.
David Adamson (2-1) was the winner striking out eight in six innings. Jim Martinez added two hits for the Tritons and Henry Jimenez hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Natal’s grand slam, during a six-run, third-inning rally, put the Tritons ahead, 11-1.
Cal State Dominguez Hills 13, Point Loma Nazarene 1--John Bueder had a home run and a bases-loaded triple to lead the Toros (10-6) past the Crusaders (5-8) at Point Loma. Mike Aspray (2-2)pitched six innings to get the victory. Point Loma Nazarene’s only run came on a solo homer by A.J. Napier in the sixth inning.
