Skilled People Wasted in China, Study Finds

BEIJING — China suffers from a waste of skilled manpower, with thousands of professionals and technicians killing time by sipping tea, the China Daily said Friday.
The newspaper said a study of more than 1 million professionals working in northwest China, one of the country’s poorest areas, found that about 30% had full-time jobs, 20% were killing time sipping tea and the rest were working only part-time.
The study found that almost all the professionals were assigned jobs in large state firms in big cities while few were working in rural areas where there are serious shortages of them.
