SDSU Loses Dual Meet to Arizona

The University of Arizona defeated San Diego State in the final event--the 1,600-meter relay--to clinch an 85-77 dual-meet victory Saturday at Tucson, Ariz.
Purdue and Texas El Paso also competed in the meet, with SDSU scoring dual-meet victories over Purdue (112-50) and UTEP (105-41).
Arizona led SDSU, 80-77, going into the 1,600-meter relay, in which the Wildcats ran a 3:13.5 to beat SDSU’s 3:19.7.
SDSU had a lifetime best from Andy Sythe in the pole vault (15-feet 9-inches) and a good effort from Rodney Van to win the long jump (24-5). SDSU’s Darryl Hudson won the 100 meters in 10.78 seconds.
