Sweden dominated the final men’s World Cup cross-country race of the season, with Thomas Wassberg winning the 50-kilometers race at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival at Oslo.
Wassberg started last among the favorites and finished in 2 hours 37 minutes 35.2 seconds. Per Knut Aaland of Norway was second in 2:37:50.8., and Thomas Eriksson and Benny Kohlberg, both of Sweden, followed in 2:38:53.6 and 2:41:00.9, respectively.
Thomas Mogren of Sweden won the season’s World Cup cross-country title with 115 points, followed by Wassberg with 98 points and Gunde Svan of Sweden at 83.
Brit Pettersen of Sweden won the women’s 20-kilometer race in 1:07:06, but Marjo Matikainen of Finland won the women’s World Cup title with 127 points.
