Public television station WNET in New York City hopes to raise $1.5 million a year by hopping on a TV bandwagon: establishing a home-shopping service. WNET executive George Miles said that the station is thinking about broadcasting a shopping program--offering a wide variety of items-- from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., when it is normally off the air. Added Miles: “We’re taking a preliminary look at it and would not in any way go against our mission, to provide quality television we’ve been providing for the last 25 years.”
