Responding to the 18-month suspension that Scott Young received from the International Ice Hockey Assn. when he tested positive for a banned drug during the World Hockey Championships Monday in Vienna, Austria, a suspension that would bar him from next year’s Olympics, U.S. team manager Art Berglund issued this statement: “The Amateur Hockey Association of the United States wants to clarify that the medicine Scott Young tested positive for was Sinutab, an over-the-counter sinus remedy. The AHAUS is preparing to take whatever steps are necessary to have this harsh ban removed so that the player’s Olympic eligibility is not affected.”
