Sporting Ack Wins at Hollywood Park

Sporting Ack used a strong stretch run Thursday to win the $24,000 featured allowance race at Hollywood Park.
Sporting Ack, trained by Gary Jones, ran the 1 1/16 miles on the turf in 1:41 3/5. Sporting Ack trailed pace-setting Phylella for the first seven furlongs before taking the lead at the eighth pole.
Sporting Ack paid $9.80, $5.60 and $2.40. Phylella was second, paying $11.00 and $6.20 and Word Harvest paid $2.40 for third.
Meanwhile, a field of six headed by Bedside Promise was entered Thursday to run in Saturday’s $75,000-added Triple Bend Handicap.
Bedside Promise will be ridden by Rafael Meza and was assigned high weight of 124 pounds for the seven-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up.
Others entered were Tasso, who will be ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and was assigned 120 pounds; Zabaleta, Darrel McHargue, 118 pounds; Bolder Than Bold, Gary Baze, 118 pounds; Sabona, Fernando Toro, 115 pounds, and Rocky Marriage, Ray Sibille, 114 pounds.
