It is apparent that Jim Murray knows nothing about the Kentucky Derby. His choice of great names of Derby winners is not great, merely fair.
Imagine yourself listening to Clem McCarthy (with his five-pack-a-day voice) on the radio. Here are some great, forceful names:
Assault, charging to the lead, now by five lengths, now by six lengths .
Middleground in the center of the track, driving to the lead, Middlegrrround .
Citation taking the lead, Citashon, without another horse in sight .
Finally , War Admiral , War Admiral, War Admiral!
