LAKE CHARLES, La. — A jury found three Colombian nationals guilty today of first-degree murder in the machine-gun slaying of informant Adler (Barry) Seal, described as one of the government’s most valuable witnesses against reputed drug lords.
The verdict was returned against Luis Carlos Quintero-Cruz, 34, Miguel Velez, 37, and Bernardo Vasquez, 33. The defendants showed little emotion, Quintero-Cruz and Velez remaining stone-faced while the verdict was read and Vasquez merely looking down at the floor. They face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
