WASHINGTON — The House today voted 239-177 passage of a Pentagon budget bill that faces a veto threat because President Reagan opposes several Democratic-backed arms control restrictions added to the measure.
The chamber split along party lines as it passed the huge bill, ending almost three weeks of debates and votes. Before final approval, the House added amendments banning the use of U.S. troops in Central America unless U.S. citizens or allies are attacked.
