New York Yankee owner George Steinbrenner testified for nearly four hours at a hearing in Chicago of a players’ union grievance that owners conspired to restrict the movement of free agents and hold down salaries.

Donald Fehr, the union’s executive director, said Steinbrenner added nothing substantial or new at the closed-door session.
