BOSTON BACKERS

Robert Hilburn’s latest assault on Boston (“Boston Recycles,” July 20) is an example of the ongoing written warfare he has waged against the band since its debut in 1976. His refusal to acknowledge the multidimensional talent of Tom Scholz only accentuates his prejudged ideas of Boston. The review of the performance was not of the music or stage show itself, but instead was littered with ill-conceived comments regarding Boston’s recording process.

Scholz’s talent is to be marveled at, along with his patience and perseverance in dealing with the record industry and our judicial system. Hilburn’s essays on the “rock world” are not pretty, only empty.
