More than 200 mourners, including actor Paul Newman, paid their last respects to race driver Jim Fitzgerald in a funeral mass at Holy Family Church in Clemmons, N.C.
Fitzgerald, 65, was killed Sunday in an accident during a Sports Car Club of America race at St. Petersburg, Fla.
Newman, Fitzgerald’s racing partner for the last 15 years, offered a brief eulogy during the service. “He left a big impact,” Newman said. “I just know wherever he is, he’s got a hell of a ride.”
