Local News in Brief : Challenger Quits Race
- Share via
One of three challengers in the race for the Torrance City Council has dropped out of the campaign for medical reasons.
Suzanne Fermano, 34, a human relations manager for Tandem Computers in Culver City informed the city clerk’s office that she is withdrawing from the race on the advice of her doctor.
However, since the decision came after the close of filing for the March 8 city election, Fermano’s name will appear on the ballot and her candidate’s statement will appear in election materials.
Fermano’s withdrawal leaves two challengers--journalist Brian Hannon and real estate agent Tony Kriss--seeking to replace incumbents Dan Walker, George Nakano and Tim Mock.
Control of growth in the South Bay’s largest city is expected to be the major issue in the Torrance council campaign.
