A Lemoore Naval Air Station pilot safely ejected from a light attack bomber that suddenly nose-dived into the Pacific Ocean while on maneuvers with the aircraft carrier Enterprise, a Navy spokesman said. Lt. David Harman of Georgia was rescued by helicopter and was listed in good condition after the $6-million jet crashed, according to Lemoore spokesman Dennis McGrath. Harman’s A-7E Corsair suddenly nose-dived into the ocean, McGrath said, adding that the Navy is investigating the incident. The crash marked the second Lemoore jet lost at sea in less than a week. Earlier, another Corsair slid off the Enterprise flight deck and killed a sailor mechanic sitting in the cockpit. Lemoore’s Attack Squadron 22 is attached to the Enterprise on a training mission west of Hawaii.
