Although he is not running for reelection, Carmel Mayor Clint Eastwood is doing a little politicking elsewhere. The film star is endorsing Idaho as a film location in an ad to be placed in a half-dozen film industry trade publications this year. Peg Hamende, Idaho Film Bureau promotion specialist, said Monday that Eastwood’s services came free, but the initial run of the ad will cost taxpayers $5,400. The photograph used in the ad was taken from Eastwood’s Western, “Pale Rider,” filmed near Ketchum, Ida., in 1984. “The only tough part about filming in Idaho is when you have to leave,” Eastwood says in the ad.
