A mother and her 3-year-old daughter were in critical condition at County-USC Medical Center late Monday after allegedly being stabbed repeatedly with a hunting knife by the mother’s ex-boyfriend.
Police said Oscar Mario Blanco stabbed his former girlfriend, Marta Elias, 27, and her daughter, Carla Albanez, at a gas station in the Westlake district of Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon and then seriously wounded himself.
Blanco was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to a jail ward of County-USC Medical Center, police said. He was reported in satisfactory condition Monday.
Elias had broken off with Blanco several months earlier, police said. Witnesses told police the victims were refused permission to telephone from a cashier’s booth at the gas station and had to flag down a patrol car.
