Local News in Brief : 4-Month Runway Closure
- Share via
Starting today, one of four runways at Los Angeles International Airport will be closed for a four-month reconstruction project that will require the cancellation of some flights and rescheduling of others, according to airport officials.
An industry task force that included representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration and airlines agreed to 371 scheduling adjustments and 50 flight cancellations a day, officials said.
Officials said normal noise abatement procedures, under which airplanes land from the west between midnight and 6 a.m., will remain in force. A 24-hour phone number, (213) 64-NOISE, is available for residents to report any unusual noise.
