Humphrey III in Senate Race

A long shot in Florida and a familiar name in Minnesota announced their candidacies for U.S. Senate seats today.
In Lake Worth, Fla., U.S. Rep. Daniel A. Mica said he would run for the Democratic Senate nomination for the seat held by retiring Democratic Sen. Lawton Chiles despite polls showing he is far behind former Gov. Reubin Askew. In St. Paul, Minn., Atty. Gen. Hubert H. Humphrey III declared his Senate candidacy after months of testing the political water. He is challenging the GOP incumbent, Sen. Dave Durenberger.
