600 Million Chinese Now Watch Television

BEIJING — China, where television was a rare luxury 20 years ago, now has 600 million television viewers--more than any other country, the New China News Agency said Monday.
There are 100 million television sets in the country, and China is the world’s biggest producer of black-and-white receivers and the third biggest manufacturer of color sets, the agency said.
About half of all households have a television, it added.
