Ray (Boom Boom) Mancini will come out of retirement to fight Hector (Macho) Camacho in May for a lot of money, but with no title at stake, co-promoter Dennis Rappaport said.
Mancini, a former World Boxing Assn. lightweight champion, will get $2.25 million plus training expenses while Camacho, a former World Boxing Council super featherweight champion who recently relinquished the WBC lightweight title, will get $1.3 million plus training expenses.
Camacho faces gun and drug possession charges in Clewiston, Fla., but Rappaport said, “There won’t be any legal impediment to the fight.”
The 26-year-old Mancini, of Youngstown, Ohio, has not fought since he lost a 15-round decision to Livingstone Bramble in a bid to regain the WBA 135-pound title Feb. 16, 1985.
