Virgin Atlantic Airways has been granted British authority to fly from London to Los Angeles and New York. It will seek U.S. authority for the flights to begin this spring to Los Angeles and soon after to Kennedy Airport in New York. The British-based carrier already serves Newark, N.J., and Miami.
