A 19-year-old Van Nuys man was being held without bail Friday in connection with the stabbing death of a teen-ager, Los Angeles police said.
Police said Robert Griffin of the 7000 block Lennox Avenue stabbed Mano Juarez Estrada, 17, of Van Nuys during a fight near the corner of Sherman Way and Lennox Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Estrada was taken to Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Information from witnesses led officers to Griffin’s home a few blocks from the fight scene. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and was being held in the Van Nuys Jail, police said. No bail had been set.
The fight apparently stemmed from a feud over a mutual girlfriend, police said. Police said Estrada occasionally used the name of another Van Nuys teen-ager, who was not involved in the fight.
