‘Mikado’ Remarx

Jonathan Miller’s decision to stage “The Mikado” a la the Marx Brothers (as reported today) is an act of cultural vandalism, no matter how much money it might make.
Violating Gilbert and Sullivan is no different from colorizing “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
I hope the Music Center Opera realizes its error and invites New York’s Gilbert and Sullivan Players to present their delightfully faithful version next year.
