NHL Roundup : Nieuwendyk’s 51st Is the Winner for Calgary

Joe Nieuwendyk’s tiebreaking goal at 8:21 of the third period in Boston helped the Calgary Flames post a 7-5 victory over the Bruins Thursday night.
The Flame rookie scored his 51st goal to break a 5-5 tie and give Calgary the best overall record in the league by a point over the idle Montreal Canadiens.
Joey Mullen clinched the win for Calgary with an empty-net goal with 12 seconds remaining.
Quebec 4, New Jersey 3-- Michel Goulet and Gaetan Duchesne scored 23 seconds apart to cap a four-goal second period as the Nordiques beat the Devils at East Rutherford, N.J.
Peter Stastny ignited the period’s scoring with two goals for the Nordiques.
Chicago 4, Philadelphia 3--Denis Savard scored 37 seconds into overtime at Philadelphia, after goalie Bob Mason turned away 45 shots, to give the Blackhawks the win over the Flyers, their first at the Spectrum in five years.
Minnesota 2, St. Louis 2--Moe Mantha scored with 7:51 left in regulation to help the North Stars snap an eight-game road losing streak at St. Louis.
The tie enabled the Blues to stay two points ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks in the race for second place in the Norris Division. Minnesota cut Toronto’s lead in the battle for the final Norris playoff berth to three points.
