A 21-year-old tractor driver was killed today while he was working on the grading for entertainer Merv Griffin’s new hilltop home above Beverly Hills. The tractor overturned on a hillside and rolled about 400 feet into a canyon below, Los Angeles city fire officials said.
The tractor driver, who was not identified, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, spokeswoman Paula Correia told United Press International. Workers were grading the 157-acre site for Griffin’s home when the accident occurred at 9:30 a.m. A spokesman said the entertainer is deeply upset about the accident.
