Home Box Office and the Children’s Television Workshop have teamed to produce “Encyclopedia,” a series of half-hour programs designed to appeal to children aged 6-11, it was announced Tuesday. The 24-part series, set to debut on the pay-TV channel in September, was described in the announcement as a “hip, fast-paced collection of comedic sketches, original songs and state-of-the-art visuals.” It’s the first pay-TV outing for the television workshop, which produces “Sesame Street” and other public television series.
