Local News in Brief : Special Refuse Pickup
- Share via
As part of Hawthorne’s annual spring cleanup campaign, the city will provide a special refuse pickup service for single-family residential customers during the week of April 11.
At no additional cost, homeowners will be able to dispose of items not normally picked up, including broken appliances such as ovens, water heaters and refrigerators, plus newspapers, tree limbs (cut and bundled in 3-foot lengths) and scrap metal.
Items must be set out no sooner than the evening before the customer’s regular service day. Items should be stacked separately from regular trash containers. No items such as concrete, asphalt, or dirt with a weight of 120 pounds or more per item will be picked up, except appliances.
Further information is available by contacting the city’s refuse contractor at 675-3331.
Handicapped and elderly residents may request help by calling the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce civic activities committee at 676-1163.
