Cutting RTD Fares to Add Riders

I support the proposal for free transit made by Peter O’Neil (Op-Ed Page, April 17). Los Angeles faces a transportation crisis which could cost us billions in wasted time, fuel costs, insurance and air pollution.
We must accelerate construction of all types of transportation facilities, including mass transit. We must use cost-effective and proven technologies. We must pay for it now, and not issue bonds future generations must pay for. Free transit is an idea whose time has come.
