A teen-age burglary suspect was arrested early Wednesday morning after Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach police officers teamed up and cornered him at an intersection, police said.
The 17-year-old youth, whose name was not released because of his age, was booked on suspicion of auto burglary and possession of burglary tools and was taken to the county’s Juvenile Hall, police said.
Police Lt. Rod Gillman said the suspect was seen just after midnight by a resident of the Chateau Blance Apartments, who noticed the youth near the resident’s 1987 Hyundai. The resident chased the boy away, but when police arrived, they found him hiding in bushes nearby, Gillman said.
Police Officer James Floren then gave chase, following the youth to the corner of Brookhurst and Ellis streets, Gillman said. It was there that Huntington Beach Police Officer Michael Christ saw the chase and assisted Floren.
The youth, who was arrested near the intersection, was found carrying a device used to break the ignition lock off cars, Gillman said.
