Local News in Brief : Workshop on Budget Scheduled
- Share via
The Lawndale City Council will hold a budget workshop 7 p.m. Wednesday, in an effort to resolve a projected shortfall of about $360,000 in the 1988-89 municipal budget.
Acting City Manager Paula J. Cone said the city staff has cut about $739,000 from an original $6.2-million budget containing department heads’ most optimistic proposals, but a $359,910 difference remains between projected expenditures and revenues.
The budget could be balanced by increasing fines and fees, or by cutting expenditures such as the 5% pay increase that has been granted all city employees, or by a combination of such measures. Changes in the pay raise would have to be negotiated with the city’s unions.
