UCI’s Tennis Season Closes Out in Georgia

The UC Irvine men’s tennis season came to a close Thursday at the NCAA men’s individual championships at the University of Georgia in Athens.
Mark Kaplan was eliminated by Al Parker of Georgia, 6-4, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of singles play. Earlier Thursday, Kaplan had defeated Eric Amend of USC, 7-6, 6-1, in the round of 16.
Kaplan and Richard Lubner teamed to defeat Brian Page and John Sullivan of Clemson, 6-2, 7-6, in the opening round of doubles play but lost to Byron Black and John Carras of USC, 7-6, 6-1, in the round of 16.
Tim Madden and Jack Waite of Wisconsin defeated Mike Briggs and Trevor Kronemann of Irvine, 7-6, 6-3, also in the opening round.
