MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Florida Southern won its seventh NCAA Division II baseball championship Tuesday night, beating Cal State Sacramento, 5-4, when Fernando Arguelles singled home the winning run in the 12th inning.
The Moccasins (48-10) swept through the double-elimination tournament undefeated and handed Sacramento both of its losses.
Bob LeFebre led off the 12th with a walk against Steve Schweitzer (0-4) and was sacrificed to second by Mark Chasey.
Then Arguelles sent an 0-1 pitch in front of right-fielder Quinn Gregory, whose throw to the plate was late.
