Tiffany Boyd of Woodbridge High School pitched her fourth consecutive shutout Tuesday, leading the Warriors to a 1-0 victory over Arroyo in the Southern Section 2-A semifinal at Mountain View High School.
Top-seeded Woodbridge (24-6) will meet Pacific Coast League rival Laguna Hills, in the 2-A final at 6 p.m. Friday at Mayfair Park. Last year, Woodbridge and Laguna Hills finished as co-champions after playing to a 14-inning scoreless tie in the final.
Boyd, who has been to three division finals in her four years at Woodbridge, struck out 17, walked 1 and gave up 1 hit, in the seventh inning.
Woodbridge scored in the sixth inning when center fielder Mary Dugard hit a ball down the third-base line for a double. Dugard advanced to third on a wild pitch, then scored on Lisa Wehren’s sacrifice fly to center field.
Dugard’s hit was the only one allowed by Arroyo pitcher Julie Todd (16-1). The loss was the first for Arroyo (21-1-1).
