80 Battle Office Fire in Sorrento Valley

Eighty firefighters spent more than an hour combatting a blaze that swept through a Sorrento Valley office complex Tuesday morning, causing about $1 million in damage to business and professional offices.
No one was injured in the three-alarm fire that began shortly after 2:30 a.m. in the multi-unit Sorrento R & D Addition Building at 11772 Sorrento Valley Road, but fire officials said the damage could have been more extensive.
Fire officials said an electrical malfunction in the main electrical service area started the blaze.
